Marzia Fontana

Research Fellow, University of Sussex

Marzia Fontana is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex and Co-director of its MA in Gender and Development. Prior to this she was a lecturer in Economics at the University of Sussex and a research analyst at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in Washington D.C. Her research focuses on gender inequalities, unpaid work, labour markets and international trade. Marzia has collaborated with a number of international organisations and NGOs including ILO, FAO, UNDP, UNRISD, the Commonwealth Secretariat, the World Bank, ActionAid, One World Action and Oxfam. She holds a PhD in Economics and an MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Sussex, U.K. and a Laurea in Economics and Politics from the University of Florence, Italy.
