Syeed Ahamed joined IID as the founding Chief Executive Officer to lead the building of this new think tank. Before joining IID, he worked at the University of Melbourne in various teaching and research capacities, including as a Research Fellow at the office of the Vice-Chancellor. Prior to that, he served a long research career at various national and international organisations including at the Centre for Policy Dialogue, Dhaka (2000-2002, 2004-2006); and the House of Representatives of the Australian Parliament House, Canberra (2003). He holds a Master degree from the Australian National University and is currently carrying out his PhD at the University of Melbourne. He has numerous publications to his credit which includes journal articles, book chapters and monographs. He is also a member of Drishtipat Writers’ Collective. He received the Australian Leadership Award to pursue his PhD in 2007; the Asian Emerging Leader Award from the Asia Foundation, San Francisco in 2004; and Australian Development Scholarship Award, in 2003. His current research interests include evidence based public policy, policy informatics and e-governance.
