Lima, Peru. MOBILIZING AID FOR TRADE: FOCUS LATIN AMERICA AND THE
CARIBBEAN. Organised by the WTO and the Inter-American Development
Bank in cooperation with the World Bank and the Peruvian government.
The purpose of the meeting is to highlight the Latin American and
Caribbean (LAC) dimension of Aid for Trade, and to encourage governments,
donors and the private sector to address specific challenges for
the region, to prioritize AFT needs, and to move towards shared

Oxford, United Kingdom. CLIMATE CHANGE: SCIENCE, POLITICS AND THE
MANAGEMENT OF UNCERTAINTY. Organised by the 21st Century Trust in
partnership with the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft,
the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, and the UK Foreign and Commonwealth
Office. This conference will address the linkages of science and
politics, within a context of uncertainty, and the difficulties
of making policies to address the problems of global warming. It
will review lessons learned in recent years, from the Kyoto Protocol
to initiatives at the level of state governments, cities and communities
and also attempt to define what approach or combination of approaches
is most likely to bring the best ecological, social and economic

New York, USA. INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF THE HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
AND CAPABILITY ASSOCIATION (HDCA): IDEAS CHANGING HISTORY. The Human
Development and Capability Association is organizing an international
conference with keynote speeches by Martha Nussbaum, Amartya Sen,
Hilary Putnam, Anthony Appiah and Sir Richard Jolly. The special
theme of the conference will be on the spread of ideas and their
social impact. The conference aims to promote high quality research
and innovations in policy and practice, bringing together researchers
and practitioners engaged in leading work on human development and

Manila, Philippines. MOBILIZING AID FOR TRADE: FOCUS ASIA AND THE
PACIFIC. Organised by the WTO, the Asian Development Bank, and the
Filipino government. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss what
policies and activities are working in the region, and which ones
are not, as well as discuss the future of Aid for Trade in the region.
The information from this meeting, along with the ones in Lima,
Peru, and Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, will be used during the WTO Global

THE ROLE OF THE PRIVATE SECTOR AND GOVERNMENT. Organised by the
International Food & Agricultural Trade Policy Council (IPC).
Recognizing that agriculture and food security face a range of pressing
challenges from increasing population growth to global warming,
IPC will bring together international food and agricultural trade
experts, environmental experts, farm leaders, government officials,
and agribusiness and food retail executives to discuss how the private
sector and governments can best address these sustainability challenges.

UN Headquarters, New York, USA. EXPERT GROUP MEETING: INNOVATIVE
FINANCE FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. The UN Commission on Sustainable
Development (CSD) will be holding its 16th session in the first
half of 2008, focusing on policy options and practical measures
to address challenges in the areas of agriculture, desertification,
drought, rural development, including a special focus on Africa.
To inform the discussions, the Division for Sustainable Development,
which acts as Secretariat to the Commission, will organize this
meeting, with a particular focus on the themes of CSD-16. Internet:
