Italy. TWENTIETH WORLD ENERGY CONGRESS. The main topic of the congress
is "The Energy Future in an Interdependent World," and
it will also focus on social issues that developing and emerging
countries face in relation to the international energy market, and

12-13 November, Rome,
Italy. GLOBAL FORUM ON AGRICULTURE. Jointly organized by the Organisation
for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the World Bank,
the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and
the UN Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO), this event is hosted
by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance. The forum will focus
on African agricultural development and poverty reduction; its objectives
are to disseminate and broaden the impact of new analytical work
and to share reflections and deepen understanding on a number of
constraints and policy issues of importance to the agricultural
sector. The forum is timed to coincide with the release of World
Bank's 2008 World Development Report, and newly available analysis
from OECD, IFAD and FAO. Reactions to this work from African and
international experts and open discussions with all participants

TRADE AND ENVIRONMENT TRAINING COURSE FOR GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS.
The tool-kit is designed to increase the capacity of participants
to negotiate and implement international trade agreements that contain
environmental provisions or a sustainable development perspective.

India. NATIONAL CONSULTATION SERVICES TRADE AND DOMESTIC REGULATION
IN INDIA. This consultation is organised by engaging the policy-makers
(including regulators), civil society representatives, inter-governmental
and multilateral agencies, academics and media. Country background
paper and two sectoral case studies will be presented at this meeting.
After receiving comments from various stakeholders, a synthesis
paper will be prepared, outlining the policy implications and impact
of services liberalisation and domestic regulation on these countries'
economies. This synthesis paper will be finalised after conducting
the dissemination meeting so that deliberations at these meetings
