Anja Zimmermann is a Junior Associate working for ICTSD’s Agriculture Programme. She recently completed her Master’s Degree in Environmental Governance at the University of Freiburg in Germany. During her Master’s she worked at FAO in Rome with the Rotterdam Convention on agricultural policy, international conventions and governance. Anja’s Master’s thesis elucidated the various reasons that led to a policy change in 2010 that restricted the use of highly toxic pesticides in Ecuador. Anja has worked as content manager and editor in a press agency in Geneva and also gained experience at Zoi Environment Network (NGO) and at the UN Environment Programme on issues related to chemicals and waste. In addition to her time here she continues to help as a Research Assistant at the University of Freiburg on a project related to flood policies and climate change adaptation. Anja is a German and Ecuadorian national.
