Elaine Jones is a professional with wide experience in international development, gender in value chains, fair trade and ethical supply chain management. Elaine is an experienced trainer and provides regular training in International Labour Standards in a wide range of sourcing countries on a global level. She is currently part of Ethical Trading Initiative’s core trainer team delivering open courses and bespoke training with apparel and textiles brands and food and farming suppliers in the UK and overseas, including development and delivery of training of trainers, and recently undertook the development and piloting of a training module on Gender Equality in Global Supply Chains as part of the WISE team.
Elaine has been involved with the ETI since its inception in 1998 and served two terms on the ETI Board of Directors as a company representative first and then as an NGO representative. Initially with a background in international development in Latin America, Elaine went on to gain 10 years hands-on experience within a corporate environment with The Body Shop International developing direct sourcing relationships with community-based enterprises in some 27 developing countries and shaping strategy on ethical supply chain management. As Director of WIEGO’s Global Trade Programme, (Women in Informal Employment Globalising and Organising), from 2005 to March 2016 Elaine coordinated two four year multi-country programmes developing collective forms of community-based enterprise and developing women’s leadership and business skills.
