Fiona McGuinty is a Bridges Graduate Fellow for ICTSD's Publications and Editorial Team. She is currently a Master of Arts candidate in International Relations at Central European University, Budapest, Hungary, where she is researching the explanatory factors behind relative success and failure in contemporary free trade agreement negotiations. Fiona holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Acadia University, Wolfville, Canada.
Fiona is currently working in the International Affairs Directorate of the Competition Bureau of Canada, where she aids in the negotiation of competition chapters in free trade agreements, and in the preparation for international meetings among competition agencies and various global organizations such as the OECD. She was previously a Credit Information Analyst at Export Development Canada, where she analyzed potential export transactions and helped Canadian businesses achieve their export goals. Her research interests include the effects of progressive trade agendas on various economies, the effects of the circular economy, and the role of regulatory standardization in transnational commerce.
