Independent Fisheries Expert

Gilles Hosch is an independent fisheries expert with 20 years of industry and consulting experience, focusing his career on IUU fishing and Monitoring, Control and Surveillance (MCS) from early on, and counting more than 12 years of specific expertise in these domains. He has executed a wide range of MCS and IUU-fishing related assignments world-wide, including the development of seven National Plans of Actions to combat, deter and eliminate IUU fishing (NPOA-IUU) – in Africa and Asia. Since 2010, Mr Hosch has been mandated under distinct initiatives to assist countries in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and South East Asia, exporting seafood products to the EU market, to implement and comply with the EU-IUU Regulation‘s catch certification scheme. More recently, Gilles has been mandated by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) to draft guidelines for the development of catch documentation schemes in global tuna and deep sea fisheries.
