Jaime Garcia, of Peruvian nationality, is Professor of Economics at the University of Lima. He is also a member of the International Studies Institute of the Peruvian Catholic University, Executive Vice President of ConsultAndes S.A., and a member of the Board of Directors of various companies. His areas of expertise include Economics, International Trade, Development, Environment and Anti-drug Policy. He spent five years as the General Manager of the American Chamber of Commerce of Peru. He served as Peru's Vice Minister of Industry and as the Vice Minister of Tourism, Integration, and International Trade Negotiations. On behalf of the Inter-American Development Bank, Mr. Garcia worked as an Advisor to both the Nicaraguan and Panamanian Ministries responsible for industry and commerce. In addition, he spent a year as the President of the Organization of the American States' Special Committee on Trade and as the President of its Advisory Group. For the past ten years, Mr. Garcia has been a Contributing Editor of three of Peru's leading newspapers, El Comercio, Expreso and Correo. Several significant international organizations have employed him as a specialist and contributing expert, including the U.S. Agency for International Development, the European Union Commission, GTZ, Holland Cooperation, Swiss Cooperation, UK Government, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. Mr. Garcia holds a degree in Economics from the University of Lima and a Master in Business Administration from IESE – the University of Navarra.
