Ambassador Samuel Améhou is a retired diplomat who spent more than 30 years working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Benin. Between 2000 and 2007 he was the Ambassador of Benin to the WTO. During that time he was one of the initiators and the coordinator of the cotton initiative (C4 initiative). Over the previous 20 years he held different positions for the Foreign Service of Benin, including Minister Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Benin to the United Nations in New York (1997-2000), Deputy Director of Protocol (1992-1996), deputy director for international organisations (1992-1996). Prior to that, he covered different positions both in Benin and abroad.
