Werner Corrales-Leal is currently Coordinator at Alianza por la Venezuala que queremos Todos and Director at Iniciativa Democrática. He was Director at ISDNet; between 2002 and 2008 Senior Fellow at ICTSD in Geneva; also he was Honorary Research Fellow at the Institute for New Technologies of the University of the United Nations INTECH in Maastricht. He was Minister for Development and Minister for Trade of Venezuela, as well as Ambassador to the WTO, and a consultant for international organizations such as the OECD; UN-ECLAC; UN-ISDR; the Inter American Development Bank; the Andean Development Corporation, and the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries. For the past six years the work of Mr Corrales has been focusing on Trade-supported Strategies for Sustainable Development, particularly the relationships between trade rules and competitiveness and innovation policy in developing countries. His specialties are International Development Strategy; Innovation and Competitiveness, Trade Policy, Risks in Development.
